UX Research (Google Forms, User interviews), Problem, Ideation, Wireframing, User Testing, Figma

Research
I have conducted an open-ended online questionnaire in which 22 people took part, at the age of 25 – 64. Participants were citizens of Poland, United States, and Canada, with different backgrounds and interests. I have also conducted online interviews with 4 people, between 20 - 30 yo., that are currently developing their skills in different areas. The research results indicate that participants mainly struggle with motivation, time, and insufficient networking skills. Additionally, they are often too shy to share their progress on currently popular social media (because the platforms they know/use are not focused on skills development of their users). Surveyed users are most likely to post only the final results on those mentioned platforms.
The Problem
People pursuing self-improvement in a variety of areas could strongly benefit from a quick and easy way to set up their goals, track their progress, and receive feedback from other learners (and experts) in a given area.
The Main Goal
Design and develop a simple and user-friendly mobile app that allows users to plan, track and share their goals with other users.
Solution
- I wanted the visual design to be bold and energizing to embody the positive determination vibe. I decided to use 3 main colors yellow, blue, and pink, which are supposed to refer to the sticky notes and the highlighters.
- Users can set up their goal, timeframe, detailed plan, and check-mark each time the task is complete.
- Users can search by tags for people that are working on achieving similar goals. They can connect, and share their goals, progress, and concerns via chat or feedback system. In order to help users feel more secure, their posts are visible just for the user and connected accounts.
User Testing
As the project is still in progress, I was only able to perform initial app trials on a modest group of testers. I received their feedback that I take into account and address during further app development.
“Cool idea, just make sure only people I choose can see the stuff I post” - Jakub, 25
Few features I was able to implement so far:
- Avatars instead of pictures.
- The ability to leave the emoji reaction to posts or messages.
- In “my goal” the tasks completed are moved to the back of the list and become “crossed-out”.
